What is Murphy’s Law?
Imagine if one day you discovered that someone else was writing your destiny. Nothing you chose was actually your choice. Your life, from beginning to end, was a predetermined set of actions and emotions. And now, out of the clear blue, you’ve just been given a book with your entire life story contained inside. And not just this life – the one before that. And the one before that. And every single lifetime before those.
Now there’s someone after you, your friends and family are in the line of fire, and you’ve just been marked for extinction. That’s exactly what happens to Murphy West, an unwilling player in what becomes a rather dangerous game. It’s only a matter of time before his whole world comes crashing in on itself with revelations about humanity that are hard to swallow – and the realization that he may not even be the person he thought he was…
How did this all start?
The beginnings are rather humble; the story started as an 11 page assignment for a class in college and grew from there. The world I originally sculpted for Murphy and company was vastly different than the one they live in today – old character’s roles evolved into deeper and more meaningful ones, new characters developed over time, and eventually the story itself took on broader concepts regarding what we believe about life and death. This isn’t the typical “slice-of-life” type comic, and I will warn readers now: this story deals with religious belief and younger readers should know that there is some foul language afoot – alas, these things come up in real life, so they come up in this comic as well.
Can I read the original pages of the story?
You sure can, just visit here. Those pages range from 2 to 5 years old and needed a fresh start. The entire script has been rewritten and the new comic pages should be up soon.
Why does it take so long for you to update?
I’m holding down a 9 to 5 job that often goes over and beyond 9 to 5. That’s no excuse, I realize, but life does tend to get in the way of what’s important – art! I try to update as regularly as I can, but I can’t promise specific days of the week.
Will it eventually be published?
One day, I hope to publish it as a black and white graphic novel.
